I am so so grateful to everyone who came along to my book launch last week. The room was full of friendly faces and my family came all the way from Sheffield, Manchester and Coventry, including my niece (age 7) who also writes poetry, and nephew (3 months) who slept through most of it. Clare Potter and Philip Gross gave wonderful readings, and we nearly sold out of books! I have now received my own big box of author copies, and will be selling them at other events.
You can buy your copy of Octopus Mind from Seren Books. If you really want a signed copy, message me and I’ll organise posting one, but it is easier, and probably cheaper, if you buy direct from Seren. You should also be able to order copies in any bookshop.
I have not yet quite mastered the art of signing books while talking at the same time, but further practice will help, I’m sure. The next in-person reading is an Open Space event at Cardiff Central Library on 27th July with one of my lovely editors, Rhian Edwards.
I will also be reading at the online launch of Jamie Woods’ poetry collection Rebel Blood Cells, on 17th August, alongside several other fantastic poets. Jamie’s book and the event are raising money for Leukemia Care UK, where he is poet-in-residence.
There are some plans for an online launch, later in the summer. More details soon on that…
And I am hoping to travel about a bit over the coming year to read in other places, depending on energy levels. I’m open for invitations to read or run workshops at festivals, so please do get in touch if you are a literary festival organiser.
Keep an eye on my events page, Instagram, Twitter (while it lasts) or Facebook, for regular updates.
Many congratulations on the publication of your poetry collection. I hope you sell squillions of copies, Rachel, and have a rewarding year travelling about to various festivals.
Thank you!
